SEAK faculty member who is a physician entrepreneur answers the question: Can physicians start businesses while holding down full-time jobs?

They can, and like a lot of things in life, you can but it’s not easy. That’s why I’m very gratified to be asked to come today because that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. For the reason that I stated, I didn’t really want to wait 5 years to start the business that I had the idea for. It could be too late. The time to start is now. There are ways, creative ways, of doing it. One way is working with your family. Another way of doing it is you can hire people. One thing I might suggest to a perspective entrepreneur is to look up virtual assisting on the internet. You can see that there’s a variety of people that can help you with specific chores and task who work by the hour. That’s a great way to start.
